Ingredients

  • Apples – 6 cups thinly sliced
  • Sugar – 1/2 cup
  • Brown sugar – 1/4 cup
  • Cinnamon – 1 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
  • All-purpose flour – 2 tablespoons
  • Pie crust dough – 2 crusts top and bottom
  • Butter – 2 tablespoons cut into small pieces
  • Salt – a pinch

Instructions

Prepare the Apples

  • Peel and slice the apples into thin pieces. Make sure the slices are even for easy and smooth cooking.

Mix the Filling

  • Place apples in a bowl. Add sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour and lemon juice. Stir until coated well.

Roll the Pie Crust

  • Use a rolling pin to roll the dough. Place one crust inside your pie dish smoothly and gently.

Add the Apple Filling

  • Pour the apple mixture inside the pie crust. Spread the apples evenly for the best baking result.

Add Butter on Top

  • Cut small butter pieces. Place them over the apple filling to make it rich and smooth.

Cover with Top Crust

  • Place the second crust over the pie. Seal the edges tightly and cut small slits for steam escape.

Bake Until Golden

  • Bake the pie in a warm oven. Remove when the crust is golden and the filling bubbles gently.

Cool Before Slicing

  • Let the pie cool before cutting. This helps the filling set and makes slicing easier.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for stronger flavor.
  • Do not skip lemon juice because it keeps the apples fresh.
  • Chill your pie dough before rolling to avoid cracks.
  • Brush the top crust with milk for a shiny finish.
  • Allow the pie to cool fully before slicing for best texture.
