Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp chili garlic sauce
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp garlic minced
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Instructions

Mix the Base

  • Add honey, soy sauce, vinegar, chili garlic sauce and sriracha in a saucepan. Stir well to blend.

Add Garlic and Ginger

  • Add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Stir to mix the strong flavors well into the sauce.

Heat the Sauce

  • Place the saucepan on medium heat. Warm the mix until it starts to bubble lightly.

Make Cornstarch Slurry

  • Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl. Stir until smooth with no lumps at all.

Thicken the Sauce

  • Pour the slurry into the hot sauce. Stir well until it becomes shiny and thick.

Add Sesame Oil

  • Add sesame oil at the end. It gives warm smell and rich taste to the sauce.

Cool and Use

  • Turn off the heat. Let the sauce cool. Then use it on wings, chicken or shrimp.

Notes

  • Use more sriracha if you like extra heat.
  • Add more honey for a sweeter taste.
  • Fresh garlic and ginger make the flavor bright.
  • Do not boil too long or the sauce may become too thick.
  • Stir often so the sauce does not burn.
  • Store in a jar for a week.
