  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt

For the Topping:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

Prepare Sweet Potatoes

  • Cook sweet potatoes until soft. Peel and mash them in a large bowl until smooth.

Mix Filling Ingredients

  • Add sugar, beaten eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the mashed sweet potatoes. Mix well.

Spread in Baking Dish

  • Pour the sweet potato mixture into the greased baking dish. Smooth the top with a spatula.

Prepare Topping

  • In a small bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, and chopped nuts. Mix until crumbly.

Add Topping to Filling

  • Sprinkle the topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture. Press lightly to cover the surface.

Bake Souffle

  • Bake in preheated oven for 40–45 minutes. The topping should be golden and crunchy.

Check Doneness

  • Insert a knife into the center. It should come out clean. The filling should be set and slightly puffed.

Cool Slightly

  • Let the souffle cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. This allows the topping to firm up slightly.

Serve Warm

  • Serve warm, optionally with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. Enjoy every creamy bite.

Notes

  • Use fresh, cooked sweet potatoes for the best flavor.
  • Mash potatoes well to avoid lumps in the filling.
  • For extra richness, add a tablespoon of melted butter to the filling.
  • Toast nuts lightly for a more flavorful topping.
  • Serve slightly warm for best texture and taste.
