Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted (for brushing)

Instructions
 

Prepare the yeast

  • Mix warm water, warm milk, and sugar. Add yeast. Let it sit until foamy.

Mix dry ingredients

  • Add flour and salt to a large bowl. Stir with a spoon until combined.

Add wet ingredients

  • Pour yeast mix, oil, and egg into the bowl. Stir until a rough dough forms.

Knead the dough

  • Place dough on a floured surface. Knead for ten minutes until smooth and soft.

First rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover with a clean towel. Let rise one hour.

Shape the dough

  • Punch the dough down. Shape into a loaf. Place in a greased loaf pan.

Second rise

  • Cover again with towel. Let the dough rise for thirty minutes until puffy.

Preheat oven

  • Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Let it heat while dough rises.

Bake the bread

  • Place loaf pan in oven. Bake for twenty-eight to thirty minutes until golden brown.

Brush with butter

  • Remove from oven. Brush top with melted butter for soft crust.

Cool the bread

  • Place loaf on a rack. Let it cool before slicing. This keeps bread soft.

Slice and serve

  • Use a sharp knife. Slice gently to keep the bread fluffy and tender.

Notes

  • Use warm, not hot, water to activate yeast.
  • Knead the dough well for a soft texture.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place.
  • Brush the top with butter for a golden and soft crust.
  • Cool completely before slicing to avoid squished bread.
