Ingredients
  

For the Cake Batter

  • 3 ripe bananas mashed
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Crumb Topping

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter cubed

Prepare the oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease the baking pan lightly. This helps the cake release easily after baking.

Mash the bananas

  • Peel the ripe bananas. Mash them with a fork until smooth. Small lumps are fine and add texture.

Mix wet ingredients

  • Add egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla to bananas. Whisk gently until everything looks smooth and creamy.

Combine dry ingredients

  • In another bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon until well combined.

Make the batter

  • Add dry ingredients into wet mixture slowly. Stir gently with a spatula. Stop mixing when batter looks smooth.

Prepare crumb topping

  • Mix flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and butter. Use fingers until crumbs form. The texture should look sandy.

Assemble the cake

  • Pour batter into prepared pan. Spread evenly. Sprinkle crumb topping generously over the batter surface.

Bake the cake

  • Place pan in oven. Bake for forty minutes. The top should be golden and a toothpick clean.

Cool before serving

  • Remove cake from oven. Let it cool for fifteen minutes. This helps the cake set properly.
