Ingredients

  • 1 lb white fish fillets cod or tilapia
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 1 cup shredded red cabbage
  • 1 cup corn kernels
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes halved
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Juice of 1 lime

For the sauce:

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon hot sauce
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

Cook the Rice

  • Cook rice according to package instructions. Fluff it with a fork once done. Keep it warm while preparing other ingredients. Warm rice makes the bowl comforting and fresh.

Prepare the Fish Seasoning

  • In a small bowl, mix chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, cumin, salt and black pepper. This gives bold flavor to the fish without being too spicy.

Season the Fish

  • Pat fish dry with paper towels. Rub olive oil on both sides. Sprinkle the spice mix evenly on the fish. Make sure all pieces are coated.

Cook the Fish

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the seasoned fish. Cook 3–4 minutes per side until fish flakes easily. Remove from heat and let it rest briefly.

Make the Creamy Sauce

  • In a small bowl, mix Greek yogurt, lime juice, honey, hot sauce and salt. Stir until smooth. Taste and adjust flavor as needed. Chill until ready to serve.

Prepare Fresh Toppings

  • Slice avocado, halve cherry tomatoes, shred cabbage and chop cilantro. Keep toppings in separate bowls for easy assembly.

Assemble the Bowls

  • Divide warm rice into four bowls. Place cooked fish on top. Add cabbage, corn, avocado and tomatoes around the fish. Drizzle sauce over everything.

Add Final Touch

  • Squeeze fresh lime juice over each bowl. Sprinkle chopped cilantro on top. Serve immediately while fresh and warm.

Notes

  • Use fresh fish for best flavor.
  • Do not overcook fish to keep it flaky.
  • Warm tortillas can be served on the side.
  • Add black beans for extra protein.
  • Brown rice adds more fiber and nutrients.
  • Adjust spice level to taste.
