Ingredients

  • 2 large chicken breasts cut into halves
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken

  • Place chicken pieces on a board. Cover them with plastic wrap. Use a rolling pin to flatten evenly. This helps them cook faster and stay tender. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

Set Up Coating Station

  • Take three bowls. Add flour in one bowl. Beat eggs in the second bowl. Mix breadcrumbs, parmesan, garlic powder and oregano in the third bowl. This setup makes coating easy.

Coat the Chicken

  • Dip each chicken piece into flour first. Then dip into eggs. Finally coat with breadcrumb mixture. Press lightly so crumbs stick well. This gives a crispy outer layer.

Fry the Chicken

  • Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add chicken pieces carefully. Cook each side for about 4–5 minutes. Cook until golden brown and crispy.

Preheat the Oven

  • Set your oven to 180°C (350°F). This step is important before baking. It ensures even cooking later.

Add Sauce and Cheese

  • Place fried chicken in a baking dish. Spoon marinara sauce on each piece. Add mozzarella cheese on top. Do not add too much sauce. It keeps chicken crispy.

Bake the Chicken

  • Put the baking dish in the oven. Bake for 10–12 minutes. Cheese should melt and bubble nicely. Chicken will stay juicy inside.

Garnish and Serve

  • Remove from oven carefully. Add fresh basil on top. Serve hot for best taste. The smell will be amazing.

Notes

  • Use fresh chicken for better taste
  • Do not skip flattening the chicken
  • Keep oil at medium heat for even frying
  • Use good quality marinara sauce
  • Do not overload sauce on chicken
  • Let chicken rest for a few minutes before serving
