Ingredients

  • Cooked white rice – 3 cups cold
  • Olive oil – 3 tablespoons
  • Butter – 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic – 2 cloves minced
  • Green onions – 2 stalks sliced
  • Soy sauce – 1 tablespoon
  • Salt – ½ teaspoon
  • Black pepper – ½ teaspoon

Instructions

Prepare the Rice

  • Use cold, cooked rice for best results. Break up any clumps with hands. Cold rice helps create a crispy texture during cooking.

Heat the Pan

  • Place a large skillet on medium heat. Add olive oil and butter. Let them melt and heat until slightly shimmering.

Add the Rice

  • Add rice to the hot skillet. Spread it evenly in one layer. Do not stir too much. Let the rice cook undisturbed.

Crisp the Rice

  • Cook rice for 8 to 10 minutes. Stir gently once or twice. Let the bottom turn golden and crispy.

Add Garlic and Seasoning

  • Add minced garlic, salt and black pepper. Stir gently. Cook for two more minutes until garlic smells fragrant.

Finish with Flavor

  • Drizzle soy sauce over rice. Toss gently to mix. Add green onions. Cook one more minute, then turn off heat.

Notes

  • Always use cold rice for best crunch.
  • Do not stir too often.
  • Medium heat prevents burning.
  • Add chili flakes for spice.
  • Use nonstick pan for easy cooking.
