Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground pork sausage spicy or mild
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice uncooked
  • ½ cup diced green bell pepper
  • ½ cup diced onion
  • ½ cup diced celery
  • 2 ½ cups chicken broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt adjust to taste
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper optional for heat

Instructions
 

Cook the Sausage

  • Place a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the ground sausage and cook until browned.
  • Break it apart with a spoon as it cooks.

Add Vegetables

  • Stir in the onion, celery, and green bell pepper.
  • Cook for 5 minutes until vegetables soften.

Add Seasonings

  • Add garlic powder, onion powder, Cajun seasoning, paprika, pepper, and salt.
  • Mix well to coat the sausage and vegetables.

Add Rice and Broth

  • Pour in the uncooked rice and mix.
  • Add the chicken broth and stir again.

Cook the Rice

  • Bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes until rice is tender.

Fluff and Serve

  • Turn off the heat.
  • Let it sit for 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork.
  • Serve warm.
