Ingredients
  

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • cups sugar
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • teaspoons baking powder
  • teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup hot water

Frosting Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter soft
  • cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 tablespoons milk

Instructions
 

Mix All Dry Ingredients

  • Add flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix until smooth and well combined.

Add Wet Ingredients

  • Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla. Mix until the batter is soft and smooth with no lumps.

Add the Hot Water

  • Pour the hot water slowly. Stir until the batter becomes thin. This makes the cake moist.

Prepare the Cake Pans

  • Grease two cake pans. Add a light dusting of flour. This helps the cakes come out easily.

Pour the Batter

  • Add the batter equally into both pans. Spread gently to make the top even.

Bake the Cakes

  • Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes. Check with a toothpick. It should come out clean.

Cool the Cakes

  • Place the cakes on a rack. Let them cool fully before frosting to prevent melting.

Make the Frosting
