Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Cream Butter and Sugars

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar together until creamy and smooth.

Add Eggs and Vanilla

  • Mix in eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla extract. Stir until fully combined and the mixture is smooth.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Mix until fully incorporated.

Add Chocolate Chips

  • Fold in chocolate chips evenly. Make sure every part of the dough has chocolate chips.

Shape the Cookies

  • Use a spoon or cookie scoop to place dough balls on the baking sheet. Space them at least 2 inches apart.

Bake the Cookies

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes. The edges should be golden, but the centers soft.

Cool and Serve

  • Let the cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use room temperature butter for easier mixing.
  • Don’t overbake; cookies stay soft if slightly underdone.
  • Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor.
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes to prevent spreading.
  • Space cookies properly to allow even baking.
