Ingredients

  • Pie crust 9-inch – 1
  • Unsalted butter – ½ cup melted
  • Sugar – 1 ½ cups
  • Cocoa powder – ¼ cup
  • Eggs – 3 large
  • Buttermilk – 1 cup
  • Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
  • All-purpose flour – 2 tablespoons
  • Salt – ¼ teaspoon

Instructions

Prepare the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 175°C. Place the pie crust in a pie dish. Press it gently into shape. Set it aside while you prepare the filling.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a bowl, add sugar, cocoa powder, flour and salt. Whisk them together until fully combined. This helps create a smooth chocolate base.

Add Wet Ingredients

  • In another bowl, whisk eggs, melted butter, buttermilk and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy. This mixture gives the pie its soft texture.

Combine Mixtures

  • Slowly add dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Stir gently until everything blends well. Make sure there are no lumps in the batter.

Fill the Pie Crust

  • Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared crust. Spread evenly using a spatula. Tap lightly to remove air bubbles from the filling.

Bake the Pie

  • Place the pie in the oven. Bake for about 40–45 minutes. The center should be slightly soft but set around the edges.

Cool Completely

  • Remove the pie from the oven. Let it cool at room temperature. Then place it in the fridge for better texture and flavor.

Slice and Serve

  • Cut the pie into even slices. Serve chilled or slightly warm. Enjoy the rich chocolate flavor with a creamy, smooth texture.

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs for better mixing
  • Do not overbake the pie
  • Whisk well to avoid lumps
  • Chill before serving for best texture
  • Use good quality cocoa powder
  • Let pie rest before slicing
