Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking tray with parchment paper. This helps cookies bake evenly and not stick.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a bowl, add flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well using a spoon. Keep this mixture aside for later use.

Cream Butter and Sugar

  • In another bowl, beat butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Mix until smooth and creamy. This step makes cookies soft and fluffy.

Add Eggs and Vanilla

  • Add eggs one by one. Mix well after each egg. Then add vanilla extract. Beat until everything is smooth and well combined.

Combine Dry and Wet Mix

  • Slowly add dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Mix gently until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix the dough.

Add Chocolate Chips

  • Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula. Make sure they spread evenly in the dough.

Shape the Cookies

  • Scoop small portions of dough and place on the tray. Leave space between cookies so they spread properly.

Bake the Cookies

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes. The edges should turn golden brown. The center should still look soft.

Cool Before Serving

  • Remove cookies and let them cool on a rack. This helps them set properly and improves texture.

Notes

  • Use room temperature butter for better mixing
  • Do not overbake cookies
  • Chill dough for thicker cookies
  • Use good quality chocolate chips
  • Always measure ingredients correctly
