Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch pan and line with parchment paper.

Melt Butter and Sugar

  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add sugar and stir until smooth and combined.

Add Eggs and Vanilla

  • Remove from heat. Quickly add eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla extract until smooth.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.

Combine Wet and Dry

  • Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Stir gently until fully combined and smooth.

Add Nuts

  • Fold in chopped nuts. Make sure they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour into Pan

  • Pour batter into prepared pan. Spread evenly using a spatula for smooth top.

Bake the Bars

  • Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Insert a toothpick to check doneness; it should come out clean.

Cool Completely

  • Let bars cool in the pan. Remove carefully using parchment paper to avoid breaking.

Cut and Serve

  • Cut into 12 equal bars. Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve and enjoy.
