Ingredients

For the soufflé bars:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Powdered sugar for topping

Instructions

Preheat the oven

  • Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9 inch pan with parchment paper for easy removal later.

Melt the butter

  • Melt unsalted butter in a small saucepan or microwave. Let it cool slightly before mixing with other ingredients.

Beat eggs and sugar

  • Use a mixer to beat eggs with granulated sugar. Beat until light, fluffy, and pale yellow in color for airy texture.

Add melted butter and vanilla

  • Slowly pour melted butter and vanilla extract into the egg mixture. Mix gently to keep the batter light and airy.

Combine dry ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder and salt. This avoids lumps and keeps bars soft and smooth.

Fold dry into wet

  • Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula. Mix until just combined; do not overmix to keep bars fluffy.

Pour batter into pan

  • Pour the batter into prepared pan. Spread evenly with a spatula for uniform baking and a smooth top.

Bake the soufflé bars

  • Place the pan in preheated oven. Bake for 20–25 minutes until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool completely

  • Remove bars from oven. Let them cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then lift out using parchment. Cool fully on a wire rack.

Dust with powdered sugar

  • Sprinkle powdered sugar on top for extra sweetness and a pretty finish. Cut into 12 squares and serve.

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs for better mixing and rise
  • Do not overmix batter to maintain light, fluffy texture
  • Sift flour for smooth, airy bars
  • Let bars cool completely before cutting to prevent breaking
  • Use parchment paper for easy removal and clean edges
  • Dust with powdered sugar just before serving for best appearance
