Ingredients
  

  • 4 medium sweet potatoes peeled and cut into chunks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey optional for sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh parsley or rosemary for garnish optional

Optional toppings:

  • Maple syrup
  • Toasted pecans
  • Marshmallows for holiday style

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven

  • Set oven to 375°F (190°C) and let it heat fully for even cooking.

Prepare Sweet Potatoes

  • Peel and cut sweet potatoes into even chunks. This helps them cook evenly.

Season the Potatoes

  • Place sweet potatoes in the Dutch oven. Drizzle olive oil or melted butter on top.

Add Sweeteners and Spices

  • Sprinkle brown sugar or honey, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until coated.

Cover and Cook

  • Put the lid on the Dutch oven. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.

Stir the Potatoes

  • Remove lid carefully. Stir potatoes gently to coat them again in spices and oil.

Continue Baking

  • Cover again and bake for another 15 minutes. Potatoes should be tender when pierced with a fork.

Optional Broil for Crispiness

  • Remove the lid and broil for 2–3 minutes if you want a slightly crispy top. Watch carefully.

Garnish Before Serving

  • Sprinkle fresh parsley, rosemary, or toasted nuts on top for added flavor.

Serve Warm

  • Scoop sweet potatoes onto plates and serve immediately as a healthy and delicious side.
