Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup uncooked rice long grain works best
  • 1 cup oil for frying
  • Pinch of salt optional

Step 1:

  • Wash and soak rice in water for 30 minutes.

Step 2:

  • Drain the rice and spread it on a clean cloth. Let it dry fully.

Step 3:

  • Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 4:

  • Drop a few rice grains into the oil. If they puff instantly, the oil is ready.

Step 5:

  • Add small batches of rice to the hot oil.

Step 6:

  • Let the rice puff and rise to the surface. Remove quickly.

Step 7:

  • Place the puffed rice on a strainer or paper towel.

Step 8:

  • Repeat until all rice is puffed. Sprinkle with salt if desired.

Notes

  • Dry rice completely before frying for best results.
  • Fry in small batches to avoid soggy puffed rice.
  • Use long grain rice for extra crispness.
  • Do not overheat oil; it burns rice quickly.
  • Store puffed rice in an airtight jar to keep it crunchy.
