Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs separated
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your cake pan and line it with parchment paper.

Separate Eggs

  • Separate egg whites and yolks into two bowls. Make sure no yolk mixes with whites.

Whisk Yolks

  • In a bowl, whisk egg yolks with sugar, yogurt, vegetable oil and vanilla until smooth.

Sift Dry Ingredients

  • Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together. This keeps the cake soft and light.

Mix Dry with Wet

  • Gently fold dry ingredients into egg yolk mixture. Stir until combined, do not overmix.

Whip Egg Whites

  • Beat egg whites with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Whites should be fluffy and glossy.

Fold Whites Carefully

  • Gently fold whipped egg whites into yolk mixture using a spatula. Keep it airy for fluffy cake.

Pour Batter into Pan

  • Transfer the batter into the prepared cake pan. Spread evenly with a spatula.

Bake the Cake

  • Bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cake should be golden and puffed.

Cool and Serve

  • Cool cake in pan for 10 minutes. Remove and let it cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Whip egg whites until stiff for maximum fluffiness
  • Fold gently to keep air in the batter
  • Sift flour to prevent lumps
  • Use plain yogurt for light texture
  • Dust with powdered sugar for a pretty finish
