For Meat Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 carrot finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk finely chopped
- 500 g ground beef
- 500 g ground pork
- 1 can 400 g chopped tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
For Béchamel Sauce:
- 50 g butter
- 50 g all-purpose flour
- 500 ml milk
- Salt pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg
For Assembly:
- 12 lasagna sheets
- 150 g grated Parmesan cheese
- 150 g grated mozzarella cheese
Add Tomatoes and Herbs
Stir in chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Simmer for 20–25 minutes. Sauce should thicken and flavors combine.
- Use fresh herbs for stronger flavor.
- Do not overcook pasta before layering.
- Simmer meat sauce slowly for better taste.
- Stir béchamel constantly to prevent lumps.
- Let lasagna rest before cutting for clean slices.
