Ingredients

For the burgers:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder

For the grilled cheese "buns":

  • 8 slices of bread
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 8 slices of cheddar or American cheese

Optional toppings:

  • Lettuce
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles
  • Caramelized onions
  • Bacon
  • Mayo ketchup, or mustard

Instructions

Make the Beef Patties

  • In a bowl, mix ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder.
  • Form into 2 large patties.

Cook the Patties

  • Heat a skillet on medium-high.
  • Cook each patty for 4–5 minutes per side until browned and juicy.
  • Remove and set aside.

Prepare the Grilled Cheese "Buns"

  • Butter one side of each bread slice.
  • Place 1 cheese slice on the unbuttered side, top with another slice of bread (butter facing out).

Cook the Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

  • Cook sandwiches in a skillet until both sides are golden brown and cheese is melted.
  • Repeat until you have 4 grilled cheese sandwiches (2 for each burger).

Assemble the Grilled Cheese Burgers

  • Place one grilled cheese sandwich on a plate.
  • Add a beef patty on top.
  • Add toppings if you like.
  • Place another grilled cheese sandwich on top as the "bun."

Serve and Enjoy

  • Slice in half and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use thick bread for a sturdy bun.
  • Don’t press the sandwiches too hard — keep them fluffy.
  • Add two types of cheese for extra flavor.
  • Let the patties rest for a minute before building the burger.
  • Cook on medium heat so the bread doesn’t burn.
