Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 6 tbsp cold butter cubed
  • ¾ cup cold buttermilk
  • 1 –2 tbsp melted butter for brushing

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven

  • Heat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.

Cut in the Butter

  • Add cold butter cubes.
  • Use a pastry cutter or fork to mix until crumbly.
  • Small butter pieces help create flaky layers.

Add Buttermilk

  • Pour in cold buttermilk.
  • Stir gently until the dough comes together.
  • Do not overmix.

Shape the Dough

  • Place dough on a floured surface.
  • Gently pat or roll to 1-inch thickness.
  • Fold the dough once for extra layers.

Cut the Biscuits

  • Use a round cutter or glass.
  • Press straight down without twisting.
  • Place biscuits on the baking sheet.

Bake

  • Bake for 12–14 minutes until golden brown.
  • Brush hot biscuits with melted butter.

Notes

  • Use very cold butter for fluffy layers.
  • Do not twist the biscuit cutter.
  • Brush the tops with melted butter for restaurant-style flavor.
  • Use buttermilk for perfect rise and texture.
