Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup guava juice or nectar

For Guava Topping:

  • 2 cups guava juice
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ cup sugar

For Cream Layer:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup cream cheese softened
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

Prepare the Oven and Pan

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking pan with oil or butter. You can also use parchment paper for easy removal after baking.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, add flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix well using a whisk. This helps the ingredients spread evenly in the batter.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • In another bowl, beat eggs, oil, milk and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy. This will help create a soft and moist cake texture.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixture

  • Slowly add the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix gently using a spatula. Do not overmix. Add guava juice and stir until smooth batter forms.

Bake the Cake

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Spread evenly. Bake for about 30 minutes. Check with a toothpick. If clean, the cake is ready to cool.

Make Guava Topping

  • In a saucepan, mix guava juice, sugar, and cornstarch. Cook on medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens into a smooth glaze.

Prepare Cream Layer

  • In a bowl, beat heavy cream, cream cheese and powdered sugar. Mix until light and fluffy. This creates a rich and smooth cream topping.

Assemble the Cake

  • Once the cake is cool, spread the cream layer evenly on top. Then pour the guava topping over it. Chill for one hour before serving.

Notes

  • Use good quality guava juice for best flavor.
  • Do not overbake the cake to keep it soft.
  • Chill the cake before serving for better texture.
  • Beat cream until fluffy but not too stiff.
  • Use fresh ingredients for best results.
