Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons black tea leaves or 2 tea bags
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • Ice cubes for cold version

Instructions

Boil the Water

  • Pour water into a saucepan. Heat it on medium flame until it starts to boil gently. Do not let it overboil.

Brew the Tea

  • Add black tea leaves or tea bags into the boiling water. Let it simmer for 3 to 5 minutes for strong flavor.

Add Sugar

  • Add brown sugar into the tea. Stir well until it dissolves completely. This gives the drink its signature caramel taste.
  • The mix of black tea and milk gives a rich taste. Brown sugar adds a caramel-like flavor.

Add Milk

  • Pour in the milk slowly. Stir gently to combine. Let the mixture heat for 2 to 3 minutes without boiling.

Add Extra Flavor

  • Add vanilla extract if you like. This step is optional but gives a nice sweet aroma to the milk tea.

Strain the Tea

  • Remove from heat. Strain the tea into cups to remove tea leaves or tea bags. This makes the drink smooth.

Serve Hot

  • Serve immediately while warm. The flavor is rich and comforting when hot.

Make Iced Version

  • To make cold tea, let it cool slightly. Pour over ice cubes in a glass. Stir and enjoy chilled.

Notes

  • Use strong black tea for better flavor
  • Do not boil milk after adding
  • Adjust sugar based on your taste
  • Use fresh milk for best results
  • Add ice only after cooling slightly
  • Try adding cream for extra richness
  • Use brown sugar for authentic taste
  • Stir well for smooth texture
