Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ pound ground pork
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 Italian rolls or hoagie rolls
  • Extra parsley for garnish

Instructions

Mix the Meat

  • Add beef, pork, onion, garlic, egg and spices in a bowl. Mix well until everything blends together.

Shape the Patties

  • Form the meat mixture into four large patties. Press gently to keep the shape firm and even.

Heat the Skillet

  • Place a skillet on medium heat. Add olive oil. Let the oil heat until warm and shiny.

Cook the Patties

  • Place patties in the skillet. Cook until brown on one side. Flip and cook the other side well.

Warm the Sauce

  • Pour marinara sauce into a saucepan. Heat on low until warm. Stir sometimes to avoid burning.

Add Sauce to Patties

  • Pour some warm sauce over the cooked patties. Let them simmer gently for better flavor.

Prepare the Rolls

  • Slice the rolls open. Place them on a baking tray. Toast lightly in the oven for crisp edges.

Add Patties to Rolls

  • Place each patty on a toasted roll. Spoon more sauce on top for extra flavor and moisture.

Add the Cheese

  • Place provolone cheese slices on top of the patties. Cover well so it melts smoothly.

Melt the Cheese

  • Place the sandwiches under the broiler. Heat until the cheese melts and turns golden.

Serve Warm

  • Remove the sandwiches carefully. Add fresh parsley. Serve hot and enjoy every warm bite.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for better flavor.
  • Try mixing pork and beef for rich taste.
  • Do not skip toasting the rolls. It prevents soggy sandwiches.
  • Simmer the patties in sauce for deep flavor.
  • Use provolone for best melting results.
