Ingredients
  

  • 4 thick slices of brioche or challah bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Butter for cooking
  • Maple syrup powdered sugar, or fresh fruit for serving

Instructions
 

Prepare the Custard

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth.

Heat the Pan

  • Place a skillet over medium heat. Add a small amount of butter to coat the pan.

Dip the Bread

  • Take each bread slice. Dip both sides into the egg mixture until fully soaked.

Cook the Bread

  • Place soaked bread on the pan. Cook for 2–3 minutes until golden brown on one side.

Flip and Cook

  • Turn the bread over. Cook another 2–3 minutes until golden brown and cooked inside.

Serve Warm

  • Place French toast on plates. Add maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit as you like.

Notes

  • Use thick bread like brioche or challah for best results.
  • Don’t soak bread too long or it will get soggy.
  • Cook on medium heat for a golden crust.
  • Add cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor.
  • Serve immediately for soft and warm French toast.
