Ingredients
  

  • 4 slices white bread
  • 1 medium sweet onion thinly sliced
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Optional parsley for garnish

Instructions
 

Prepare the onion

  • Peel the onion and slice it very thin. Separate rings gently so they stay crisp.

Season the onion

  • Place onion slices in a bowl. Sprinkle lightly with salt and black pepper. Toss gently.

Butter the bread

  • Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. Cover edges fully.

Add mayonnaise

  • Spread mayonnaise on the unbuttered side of two bread slices. Keep layer smooth and even.

Add the onion

  • Place seasoned onion slices over mayonnaise. Cover the bread fully for strong onion flavor.

Close the sandwich

  • Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out. Press gently to hold together.

Cut and serve

  • Slice sandwiches in halves or triangles. Serve immediately while onions stay crisp and fresh.
