Ingredients

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • A pinch of nutmeg optional

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Mix the Wet Ingredients

  • In a bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.

Add the Dry Ingredients

  • Add sugar, flour, and salt to the bowl. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Add Buttermilk

  • Pour in the buttermilk and whisk well until the mixture looks even.

Pour into Pie Crust

  • Pour the filling into the unbaked pie crust. Sprinkle nutmeg on top if you like.

Bake the Pie

  • Place the pie in the oven and bake for about 45 minutes. The top should be golden, and the center set but slightly jiggly.

Cool Before Serving

  • Let the pie cool completely before slicing. This helps it set well.

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs for a smooth filling.
  • Don’t overbake — the pie firms up as it cools.
  • You can use lemon zest for a light flavor twist.
  • Serve slightly warm with whipped cream for extra joy.
