Ingredients

  • 1 cup lump crab meat fresh or canned, drained
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This temperature melts the cheese perfectly and warms the dip evenly. Lightly grease a small baking dish so the dip does not stick.

Mix the Creamy Base

  • In a large bowl, add softened cream cheese, sour cream and mayonnaise. Mix with a spoon or spatula until smooth. This creamy base gives the dip its rich texture.

Add Flavor Ingredients

  • Add lemon juice, minced garlic, Old Bay seasoning, paprika and black pepper. Stir well so the spices mix evenly with the creamy base.

Add the Crab Meat

  • Gently fold in the crab meat. Mix slowly so the crab pieces stay whole. This helps the dip keep its seafood flavor and texture.

Add the Cheese

  • Add shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese to the bowl. Mix gently until the cheese spreads evenly throughout the dip mixture.

Transfer to Baking Dish

  • Spoon the crab dip mixture into the prepared baking dish. Spread the top evenly using a spatula so the dip cooks evenly.

Bake the Dip

  • Place the dish in the preheated oven. Bake for about 20 minutes. The cheese should melt and the dip should look hot and bubbly.

Add Garnish

  • Remove the dip from the oven carefully. Sprinkle chopped green onions on top. This adds freshness and a little color.

Serve Warm

  • Let the dip cool for two minutes. Serve warm with crackers, bread, or tortilla chips for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use lump crab meat for the best seafood flavor.
  • Make sure cream cheese is softened before mixing.
  • Do not overmix the crab meat. It should stay chunky.
  • Add extra cheese on top for a golden crust.
  • Serve the dip warm for the best taste.
