Ingredients

  • 1 medium head green cabbage chopped
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice

Instructions

Prepare the Cabbage

  • Remove outer leaves and chop cabbage into bite-size pieces. Wash thoroughly and drain well.

Melt Butter

  • Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat until fully melted and slightly bubbling.

Add Garlic

  • Add minced garlic. Sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

Cook Cabbage

  • Add chopped cabbage to the skillet. Stir to coat with butter and garlic evenly.

Add Broth

  • Pour in chicken or vegetable broth. This helps soften the cabbage and keeps it moist.

Season the Dish

  • Add salt, black pepper and optional red pepper flakes. Stir well to mix the seasoning.

Cover and Simmer

  • Cover the skillet with a lid. Reduce heat to low. Cook for 15–20 minutes until cabbage is soft.

Check and Stir

  • Stir occasionally. Add more broth if cabbage starts to stick. Ensure all pieces are tender.

Add Vinegar or Lemon

  • Once cabbage is soft, stir in apple cider vinegar or lemon juice. This adds bright flavor.

Serve Warm

  • Serve the Marry Me Melting Cabbage warm as a side dish with your favorite main course.

Notes

  • Use fresh cabbage for the best flavor and texture.
  • Don’t overcook; you want soft but not mushy cabbage.
  • Adjust seasoning to your taste for salt and pepper.
  • Butter can be substituted with olive oil for a lighter version.
  • Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and burning.
