Ingredients
  

For the meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the sauce:

  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon optional for warmth

Instructions
 

Mix the Meatball Ingredients

  • In a bowl, add ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, raisins, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika and parsley.
  • Mix until combined.

Shape the Meatballs

  • Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch wide.

Brown the Meatballs

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet.
  • Cook the meatballs for 4–5 minutes until browned on all sides.

Make the Sauce

  • In the same skillet, add tomato sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, and vinegar.
  • Add cinnamon if you want extra warmth.
  • Stir well.

Simmer the Meatballs

  • Add the browned meatballs back into the sauce.
  • Cover and cook on low heat for 15 minutes.

Serve Hot

  • Stir gently and serve warm.

Notes

  • Chop the onions very fine so the meatballs stay soft.
  • Soak raisins in warm water to make them plump.
  • Don’t overmix the meat.
  • Brown the meatballs for more flavor.
  • Add cinnamon for a sweet and warm twist.
