Ingredients

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper optional
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

Heat the Pan

  • Place a small saucepan over low heat. You just want it warm, not too hot.

Add the Ingredients

  • Add mayonnaise, lemon juice, melted butter, and mustard. Stir slowly with a whisk.

Blend It Smooth

  • Keep stirring until it’s smooth and creamy. Don’t let it boil or it will separate.

Season the Sauce

  • Add salt and a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little heat.

Serve Warm

  • Once it’s smooth and silky, remove it from the heat. Serve right away over eggs, veggies, or fish.

Notes

  • Keep the heat very low. High heat can ruin the sauce.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for a bright flavor.
  • Add a few drops of water if it gets too thick.
  • Serve right away for the best taste.
