Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts optional

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line your baking pan with parchment paper.

Mix the Dry Ingredients

  • In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugars

  • In another bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until creamy and smooth.

Add Eggs

  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Combine Everything

  • Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until blended.

Add Chocolate Chips and Nuts

  • Fold in chocolate chips and nuts (if using).

Spread and Bake

  • Spread the dough evenly into your baking pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cool and Cut

  • Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then cut into squares or bars.

Notes

  • Don’t overbake; bars stay soft as they cool.
  • Line the pan with parchment for easy removal.
  • Add white or dark chocolate chips for variety.
  • Chill before cutting for cleaner edges.
  • Sprinkle sea salt on top for a gourmet touch.
