Ingredients

  • 4 ocean perch fillets about 5 oz each
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • Lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Fish

  • Pat the perch fillets dry with paper towels. This helps them cook evenly and stay crispy.

Season the Fillets

  • Sprinkle garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper on both sides.

Heat the Pan

  • Add olive oil or butter to a non-stick skillet. Heat over medium flame until hot.

Cook the Fish

  • Place the fillets in the pan, skin side down first. Cook for 4–5 minutes until golden. Flip and cook the other side for another 3–4 minutes until flaky and cooked through.

Add Lemon Flavor

  • Drizzle lemon juice over the fillets while they’re still in the pan. Let it sizzle for a few seconds to coat the fish with flavor.

Garnish and Serve

  • Remove from heat, sprinkle chopped parsley, and serve warm with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Always pat the fish dry before cooking for crispy skin.
  • Don’t overcook — perch cooks quickly and stays tender.
  • Add a bit of butter for rich flavor and golden color.
  • For spice, sprinkle red pepper flakes before serving.
  • Squeeze fresh lemon juice at the end for a bright taste.
