Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken shredded
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Fresh parsley optional

Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  • In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Add milk slowly and mix to form dough. Knead gently until smooth. Cover and let it rest for 10 minutes before rolling.

Roll and Cut Pastry

  • Roll the dough on a flat surface. Make it thin like sheets. Cut into long strips or squares. Keep them aside and lightly dust with flour to prevent sticking.

Heat the Broth

  • In a large pot, pour chicken broth and bring to a boil. Add butter, black pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Stir well to mix all flavors.

Add Chicken

  • Add shredded chicken into the boiling broth. Stir gently. Let it cook for a few minutes so the chicken absorbs the flavor from the broth.

Cook the Pastry

  • Add pastry strips slowly into the pot. Stir gently to prevent sticking. Reduce heat to medium. Cook for 15–20 minutes until pastry becomes soft and tender.

Adjust and Serve

  • Check seasoning and add salt if needed. Let the dish thicken slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot and enjoy this comforting homemade meal.

Notes

  • Use homemade broth for better flavor.
  • Do not overwork the dough.
  • Cut pastry evenly for even cooking.
  • Stir gently to avoid breaking pastry.
  • Add cream for a richer taste.
  • Let it simmer for deeper flavor.
