Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 –2 tablespoons milk optional for consistency

Instructions

Soften the Ingredients

  • Take cream cheese and butter out of the fridge. Let them sit at room temperature. Soft ingredients mix better and give a smooth frosting texture.

Beat Cream Cheese and Butter

  • Place softened cream cheese and butter in a bowl. Use a mixer to beat until smooth and creamy. This step removes lumps and makes the base fluffy.

Add Powdered Sugar Slowly

  • Add powdered sugar little by little while mixing. This prevents lumps and keeps the mixture smooth. Continue mixing until fully combined and light.

Add Vanilla Extract

  • Pour in vanilla extract and mix again. This adds a nice sweet flavor. Make sure it blends evenly into the frosting.

Adjust the Consistency

  • If the frosting is too thick, add milk one tablespoon at a time. Mix well after each addition until you reach your desired consistency.

Final Mixing

  • Beat the frosting for another one to two minutes. This makes it extra light and fluffy. Scrape the sides of the bowl if needed.

Use or Store

  • Your frosting is ready to use. Spread it on cakes or cupcakes. You can also store it in the fridge if not using right away.

Notes

  • Always use softened cream cheese and butter.
  • Sift powdered sugar for a smoother texture.
  • Do not overmix, or frosting may become too soft.
  • Chill frosting slightly for better spreading.
  • Add a pinch of salt to balance sweetness.
  • Use full-fat cream cheese for best flavor.
