Ingredients

  • Bananas – 4 large sliced
  • Instant vanilla pudding mix – 2 packages 3.4 oz each
  • Whole milk – 4 cups
  • Sweetened condensed milk – 1 can 14 oz
  • Heavy whipping cream – 2 cups
  • Powdered sugar – ½ cup
  • Vanilla extract – 2 teaspoons
  • Vanilla wafer cookies – 1 box 12 oz
  • Cream cheese – 4 oz softened

Instructions

Prepare the Custard

  • In a medium saucepan, combine milk and instant pudding mix. Whisk constantly over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Add Sweetened Condensed Milk

  • Stir in sweetened condensed milk and softened cream cheese. Mix until smooth and creamy. This creates a rich, sweet and velvety custard base.

Slice the Bananas

  • Peel and slice bananas evenly. This ensures consistent layers. Arrange them over the first layer of custard in your dish.

Layer Vanilla Wafers

  • Place a layer of vanilla wafer cookies over the custard and banana layer. Press gently to make an even base for the next custard layer.

Add Another Custard Layer

  • Pour another layer of custard over the wafers. Spread evenly with a spatula. Repeat layers if desired, finishing with custard on top.

Whip the Cream

  • In a mixing bowl, beat heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. This will be your topping.

Top the Pudding

  • Spread whipped cream evenly over the top of the pudding. Garnish with crushed vanilla wafers or banana slices for presentation.

Chill Before Serving

  • Cover the pudding and chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours. Chilling helps the flavors meld and makes serving easier.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Scoop into bowls or slices for serving. Enjoy creamy, layered banana pudding that is both decadent and refreshing.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm bananas to avoid mushy layers
  • Chill for at least 2 hours for best flavor
  • Crush some wafers for garnish for extra texture
  • Use softened cream cheese for smooth custard
  • Layer evenly for a beautiful presentation
