Ingredients

  • Ground beef – 500 grams
  • Olive oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Onion chopped – 1 medium
  • Garlic minced – 4 cloves
  • Crushed tomatoes – 2 cups
  • Tomato paste – 2 tablespoons
  • Tomato sauce – 2 cups
  • Sugar – 1 tablespoon
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Italian seasoning – 1 tablespoon
  • Dried basil – 1 teaspoon
  • Red pepper flakes – 1/2 teaspoon optional
  • Water – 1/2 cup

Instructions

Cook the Ground Beef

  • Heat a large pot on medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until brown. Break it into small pieces using a spoon. Cook until no pink remains. Remove extra fat if needed.

Add Onion and Garlic

  • Add olive oil to the same pot. Put chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for one minute. Stir well to avoid burning.

Mix the Tomatoes

  • Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato paste. Stir everything slowly. Make sure the mixture is smooth and well combined without lumps.

Add Seasonings

  • Now add salt, black pepper, sugar, Italian seasoning and basil. Add red pepper flakes if you like spice. Stir everything well so flavors mix nicely.

Add Water and Simmer

  • Pour in water and stir again. Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer. Cover partially and cook for 30–35 minutes. Stir sometimes to avoid sticking.

Taste and Adjust

  • Taste the sauce after cooking. Add more salt or sugar if needed. Adjust spice level based on your taste. Let it cook for another 5 minutes.

Serve Hot

  • Turn off heat and let the sauce rest for a few minutes. Serve over cooked spaghetti or your favorite pasta. Enjoy your homemade meal.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for better flavor.
  • Simmer longer for deeper taste.
  • Add fresh herbs if available.
  • Do not skip sugar. It balances acidity.
  • Use good quality tomatoes for best results.
  • Stir often to prevent burning.
  • Add a little butter at the end for richness.
