Pecan Squares are sweet, nutty and perfect for dessert or snacks. They have a buttery base and a gooey pecan topping. This treat is easy to make and delicious for holidays or family gatherings.

Ingredients
  

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups chopped pecans

Instructions
 

Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9-inch pan with parchment paper.

Make the Crust

  • Combine flour, powdered sugar, and butter. Mix until crumbly and press into prepared pan evenly.

Bake Crust

  • Bake crust for 15 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.

Prepare Topping

  • In a saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar, heavy cream, and corn syrup. Stir constantly.

Simmer Topping

  • Simmer mixture for 3–4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

Add Pecans

  • Mix in chopped pecans until evenly coated with topping mixture.

Pour Topping on Crust

  • Evenly spread pecan topping over the baked crust. Use a spatula to level it.

Bake Squares

  • Bake for 10 minutes until topping is bubbly and golden brown. Remove and cool.

Cut Into Squares

  • Once cooled, cut into 12 equal squares using a sharp knife.

Serve

  • Serve Pecan Squares at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Use fresh pecans for the best flavor.
  • Press the crust firmly for a firm base.
  • Don’t overcook the topping; it can become hard.
  • Let squares cool completely before cutting for clean edges.
  • Add a pinch of salt to topping for balance.
