Ingredients

  • 2 cups baking mix like Bisquick
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup 7 Up soda lemon-lime soda
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons extra baking mix for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high heat helps the biscuits rise quickly. Grease your baking dish lightly. You can also use parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Mix Baking Mix and Sour Cream

  • In a large bowl, add the baking mix and sour cream. Use a spoon to mix gently. The mixture will look crumbly at first. Keep stirring until combined.

Add 7 Up Soda

  • Pour the 7 Up soda into the bowl. Mix slowly until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix the dough. Overmixing can make the biscuits hard instead of soft.

Prepare the Dough

  • Sprinkle some baking mix on your counter. Place the dough on the floured surface. Gently pat it down with your hands. Make it about 1 inch thick.

Cut the Biscuits

  • Use a biscuit cutter or round glass to cut circles. Press straight down without twisting. Twisting can stop the biscuits from rising properly in the oven.

Add Butter and Arrange

  • Pour melted butter into the baking dish. Place each biscuit into the dish. Make sure the bottoms touch the butter. This gives a crispy and rich bottom layer.

Bake the Biscuits

  • Place the dish in the oven. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes. The tops should turn golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the dough. Mix just until combined.
  • Use cold sour cream for better texture.
  • Make sure your oven is fully preheated.
  • Do not twist the cutter when cutting biscuits.
  • Brush extra butter on top after baking for more flavor.
