Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts optional

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan with butter. You can also line it with parchment paper. This helps the banana bread release easily after baking.

Mash the Bananas

  • Place ripe bananas in a large bowl. Mash them well using a fork or masher. The mixture should be smooth with small lumps. Ripe bananas give more sweetness and flavor.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • Add melted butter to the mashed bananas. Stir well until combined. Add sugar, eggs and vanilla extract. Mix everything until smooth and creamy. Do not overmix the batter.

Combine Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Stir gently to combine. This step helps spread the baking soda evenly in the batter.

Mix Everything Together

  • Slowly add dry ingredients into the banana mixture. Pour milk and mix gently. Stir until just combined. Fold in chopped walnuts if using. Do not overmix to keep bread soft.

Pour and Bake

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spread evenly with a spatula. Bake for 50–55 minutes. Insert a toothpick in the center. If it comes out clean, it is ready.

Cool and Slice

  • Remove the bread from the oven. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack. Cool completely before slicing for neat pieces.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas with brown spots.
  • Do not overmix the batter.
  • Add chocolate chips for extra sweetness.
  • Sprinkle sugar on top before baking for a crisp crust.
  • Check doneness at 50 minutes to avoid overbaking.
  • Let the bread cool fully before slicing.
