Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions
 

Cook the Beef

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and onion. Cook until beef turns brown. Drain extra fat.

Season the Meat

  • Add salt and black pepper to the beef. Stir well. Remove skillet from heat. Let it cool slightly.

Prepare the Pie Dish

  • Grease a pie dish lightly with butter. Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly inside the dish.

Add the Cheese

  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the beef. Make sure cheese covers the meat evenly.

Mix the Batter

  • In a bowl, whisk milk, eggs, flour, baking powder and melted butter until smooth and lump free.

Pour the Batter

  • Slowly pour the batter over beef and cheese. Batter will spread and settle around the filling.

  • Place dish in a preheated oven at 400°F. Bake for thirty five minutes until golden and firm.

Rest Before Serving

  • Remove pie from oven. Let it rest ten minutes. This helps slices hold shape better.
