Ingredients
  

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 8 slices deli ham
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Cream Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

Prepare the Chicken

  • Place chicken breasts on a cutting board. Cover with plastic wrap. Pound gently with a meat mallet until thin and even. Season both sides with salt, pepper and garlic powder.

Add Ham and Cheese

  • Place two slices of ham on each chicken breast. Add two slices of Swiss cheese on top. Roll the chicken tightly from one end. Secure with toothpicks.

Coat the Chicken

  • Prepare three bowls. Add flour to the first bowl. Beat eggs in the second bowl. Place breadcrumbs in the third bowl. Dip each roll in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs.

Brown the Chicken

  • Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Place chicken rolls in the skillet. Cook until golden brown on all sides. Turn carefully to avoid breaking.

Bake Until Done

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer browned chicken to a baking dish. Bake for 20–25 minutes. Cook until chicken is fully done and cheese melts inside.

Make the Cream Sauce

  • In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk for one minute. Slowly add milk and broth. Stir until thick. Add mustard, salt and pepper.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Remove toothpicks from chicken carefully. Slice into rounds if desired. Pour warm cream sauce over the chicken. Serve immediately while hot and fresh.

Notes

  • Pound chicken evenly for better cooking.
  • Do not overfill with cheese. It may leak out.
  • Chill rolled chicken for 15 minutes before coating.
  • Use fresh breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
  • Check internal temperature. It should reach 165°F (74°C).
