Ingredients

  • 4 cube steaks
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying

For the Gravy

  • 2 tablespoons frying oil
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Steak

  • Place steaks on a board. Pound gently until thin. This makes the meat tender and even.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder until well combined.

Prepare Egg Mixture

  • In another bowl, whisk eggs and milk together until smooth and light.

Coat the Steak

  • Dip steak in flour first. Then dip in egg mixture. Coat again in flour fully.

Heat the Oil

  • Heat oil in skillet on medium heat. Oil should shimmer but not smoke.

Fry the Steak

  • Place steak carefully in hot oil. Fry each side for four minutes until golden brown.

Drain the Steak

  • Remove steak and place on paper towels. Let excess oil drain properly.

Make the Gravy Base

  • Remove most oil, leaving two tablespoons. Add flour and whisk until smooth paste forms.

Add Milk Slowly

  • Pour milk slowly while whisking. Cook until gravy thickens and becomes creamy.

Season the Gravy

  • Add salt and pepper. Stir well and cook one more minute.

Serve Hot

  • Serve steak hot with gravy poured on top. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Pound steak evenly for best texture.
  • Do not overcrowd the skillet while frying.
  • Keep oil at medium heat always.
  • Season flour well for more flavor.
  • Serve immediately for best crunch.
