Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups cooked chicken shredded or cubed
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of chicken soup
  • 1 ½ cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • ½ cup frozen peas optional
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter for greasing dish

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven

  • Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.

Cook the Rice

  • Cook the rice halfway. It should be soft but not fully done. Drain any extra water.

Mix the Soups

  • In a large bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup and cream of chicken soup until smooth.

Add the Chicken and Broth

  • Add the cooked chicken and chicken broth to the bowl. Stir until all ingredients are well combined.

Add Sour Cream and Cheese

  • Add sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix again until creamy and rich.

Add Vegetables and Seasoning

  • Add chopped onions, peas, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together.

Add the Rice

  • Add the half-cooked rice into the mix. Gently fold it in until coated with the creamy sauce.

Transfer to Baking Dish

  • Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish. Spread it evenly with a spatula.

Cover and Bake

  • Cover the dish with foil. Bake for 35 minutes to let all flavors blend well.

Remove Foil and Finish Baking

  • Remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.

Cool Slightly Before Serving

  • Let the casserole rest for 5–10 minutes before serving. This helps it set nicely.
