Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 6 slices bacon chopped
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 400g baked beans
  • 1 can 400g kidney beans (drained)
  • 1 can 400g pinto beans (drained)
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). This helps cook the beans evenly later. Prepare a baking dish by lightly greasing it with oil or butter.

Cook the Bacon

  • Place chopped bacon in a skillet. Cook on medium heat until crispy and golden. Remove bacon and place on paper towel. Keep a little grease in the pan.

Cook Ground Beef

  • Add ground beef to the same skillet. Cook until brown and fully done. Break it into small pieces while cooking. Drain extra fat if needed.

Add Onion and Garlic

  • Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the beef. Cook for few minutes until soft and fragrant. Stir well so everything mixes nicely.

Add Beans

  • Add baked beans, kidney beans and pinto beans into the skillet. Stir everything gently. Make sure the beans are evenly mixed with meat.

Add Sauce and Seasoning

  • Pour barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar and mustard into the mixture. Add chili powder, salt and pepper. Stir well to combine all flavors evenly.

Transfer and Bake

  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Spread evenly. Place in oven and bake for 30 minutes. The sauce will thicken and flavors will blend well.

Add Bacon and Serve

  • Remove from oven and sprinkle crispy bacon on top. Let it cool slightly before serving. Serve warm for best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Use thick-cut bacon for better flavor.
  • Do not skip brown sugar for sweet balance.
  • Add jalapenos if you like spicy taste.
  • Mix beans gently to keep them whole.
  • Bake longer for thicker sauce.
