Ingredients

  • 4 cups green beans trimmed
  • 6 slices bacon chopped
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

Prepare the Green Beans

  • Wash the green beans under cold water. Trim both ends carefully using a knife. Pat them dry with paper towels before cooking.

Cook the Bacon

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped bacon pieces and cook until crispy and golden brown while stirring occasionally for even cooking.

Remove Extra Bacon Grease

  • Transfer cooked bacon onto paper towels carefully. Leave about one tablespoon bacon grease inside the skillet for extra flavor in the sauce mixture.

Make the Sweet Sauce

  • Add butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, onion powder, black pepper and red pepper flakes into the skillet. Stir gently until smooth and glossy.

Add the Green Beans

  • Place the trimmed green beans into the skillet. Toss carefully until every green bean gets coated with the rich buttery sauce mixture evenly.

Add Crispy Bacon

  • Return the cooked bacon pieces into the skillet. Stir everything together gently so the bacon spreads nicely throughout the green bean mixture.

Transfer to Baking Dish

  • Lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil. Pour the green bean mixture into the dish and spread evenly using a spoon.

Bake the Green Beans

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake the green beans for about 25 minutes until tender and full of rich caramelized flavor.

Serve Warm

  • Remove the baking dish carefully from the oven. Let the green beans cool slightly before serving warm beside your favorite main dishes.

Notes

  • Use fresh green beans for better texture.
  • Cook bacon until crispy for best flavor.
  • Do not overcook the green beans.
  • Add extra garlic for stronger flavor.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce if preferred.
  • Stir gently to keep green beans whole.
  • Add chopped pecans for crunch.
  • Bake uncovered for caramelized edges.
  • Serve immediately for best texture.
