Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces dried chipped beef chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 slices bread toasted
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley optional garnish

Instructions
 

Prepare the Beef

  • Remove chipped beef from the package. Chop it into small bite-size pieces. If the beef tastes very salty, rinse it quickly under cold water and pat dry.

Melt the Butter

  • Place a medium skillet over medium heat. Add butter and allow it to melt slowly. Stir gently so the butter coats the pan evenly.

Make the Roux

  • Add flour to the melted butter. Stir continuously with a wooden spoon. Cook the mixture for about one minute until it becomes smooth and slightly golden.

Add the Milk

  • Slowly pour milk into the skillet while stirring constantly. Continue stirring to prevent lumps. The sauce will slowly become thicker and smooth.

Add the Chipped Beef

  • Add the chopped chipped beef into the creamy sauce. Stir well so the meat spreads evenly throughout the sauce. Let the mixture simmer gently.

Season the Sauce

  • Sprinkle black pepper and garlic powder into the skillet. Stir everything together. Let the sauce cook for two to three minutes until thick and creamy.

Serve Over Toast

  • Place toasted bread slices on serving plates. Spoon the hot creamed chipped beef mixture over the toast. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
