Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh peaches sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar for peaches
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar for batter
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon optional

Instructions

Prepare the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease your baking dish lightly with butter. This prevents sticking and helps the cobbler bake evenly and golden.

Prepare the Peaches

  • Place sliced peaches in a bowl. Add one cup sugar and lemon juice. Mix gently. Let them sit for ten minutes. This helps release natural juices and sweetness.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In another bowl, add flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Whisk well until fully combined. This step ensures even baking and smooth texture later.

Add Wet Ingredients

  • Pour milk, melted butter and vanilla into the dry mixture. Stir gently until smooth. Do not overmix. The batter should look smooth and slightly thick.

Pour the Batter

  • Pour the batter evenly into the greased baking dish. Spread lightly with a spatula. Do not worry if it looks thin. It will rise during baking.

Add the Peaches

  • Spoon the peaches and their juice evenly over the batter. Do not stir. The batter will rise around the peaches while baking.

Sprinkle Cinnamon

  • Sprinkle cinnamon lightly on top if using. This adds warm flavor and aroma. It is optional but highly recommended for extra taste.

Bake the Cobbler

  • Place the dish in the oven. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes. The top should be golden brown. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean.

Cool Before Serving

  • Remove from oven and let cool for 10 to 15 minutes. This helps the cobbler set. Serve warm for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use ripe and sweet peaches for best taste.
  • If peaches are not sweet, add extra sugar.
  • You can use canned peaches if fresh are not available.
  • Do not stir after adding peaches.
  • Let it rest before serving.
  • Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra joy.
