Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Mixture

  • In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Combine well but do not overmix. Form into 4 oval patties.

Sear the Patties

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef patties. Cook 3–4 minutes per side until browned. Remove patties and set aside.

Make the Gravy

  • In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add flour and stir for 1 minute. Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring. Add ketchup, Dijon mustard and garlic powder.

Simmer the Patties

  • Return patties to the skillet. Spoon gravy over them. Cover and simmer for 10–12 minutes. Patties should be fully cooked and tender.

Finish and Garnish

  • Check seasoning and adjust with salt or pepper if needed. Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately with gravy on top.

Notes

  • Use fresh breadcrumbs for softer patties.
  • Do not overmix beef to keep patties tender.
  • Sear patties for deep flavor before adding gravy.
  • Simmer gravy gently to avoid lumps.
  • Adjust seasoning at the end for best taste.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
