Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage pork or turkey
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups milk whole or 2%
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes

Instructions

Cook the Sausage

  • Place sausage in a large skillet. Cook over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, about 7–8 minutes.

Crumble the Sausage

  • Use a spoon to break the sausage into small pieces while cooking. Stir occasionally to cook evenly.

Add the Flour

  • Sprinkle flour over cooked sausage. Stir continuously to coat sausage and cook for 1–2 minutes.

Pour in Milk Slowly

  • Gradually add milk while stirring. This helps prevent lumps and makes gravy smooth.

Simmer the Gravy

  • Bring mixture to a low simmer. Continue stirring until thickened, about 5–7 minutes.

Season the Gravy

  • Add salt, black pepper and optional red pepper flakes. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

Check Thickness

  • If gravy is too thick, add a little milk. Stir and simmer until desired consistency.

Serve Hot

  • Spoon gravy over warm biscuits immediately. Make sure everything is evenly covered.

Garnish (Optional)

  • Sprinkle a little black pepper on top for extra flavor and a nice look.

Enjoy

  • Serve with coffee or juice. Perfect for breakfast or a hearty brunch with family.

Notes

  • Use whole milk for creamier gravy
  • Cook sausage thoroughly for best flavor
  • Stir continuously to prevent lumps
  • Adjust milk for thinner or thicker gravy
  • Serve immediately for warm, fresh flavor
